Grant McLachlan is a third generation islander, born and raised in Langford. He has a vibrant and thorough history of community involvement through organizations dedicated to the elimination of poverty, resisting climate change and the promotion of LGBTQ equality.
Grant is campaigning to bring important, progressive causes to Langford City Council. "I believe we can make Langford an even better place to live - a safer, more accessible and inclusive community focused on a healthy future for all."
Grant McLachlan is a passionate and charismatic community activist, proudly coming from a union household.
Grant has been involved with numerous organizations including the West Shore Youth Collective, the Victoria Pride Society, Victoria Citizens Against Rodeo Events, Creatively United for the Planet, Community Living BC, the Mill Hill Restoration Project, and the Farmland Protection Coalition. He is also actively involved in provincial and federal efforts to expand LGBTQ rights, implement harm reduction strategies towards drug use, and implement legislation intended to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Grant was born and raised in Langford, having graduated from Belmont Senior Secondary in 2011. Later that year, Grant ran in the municipal election for a seat on City Council, finishing with the support of 43% of voters despite being only 18. He is openly gay and lives in the Goldstream Meadows neighbourhood. He enjoys hiking, watching movies and spending time with families and friends in his spare time.
Grant is honoured to have the endorsement of Langford MP Randall Garrison, the Victoria Labour Council and local business owner Suzie Moskal. Over the course of the campaign, Grant will reveal additional supporters of his candidacy.
